E-Learning
Nowadays in global
era, we are familiar with technology. We couldn't separate technology and our life, means that we often use it in our activity as technology has developed.
Then it becomes the principal part today therefore people who want to keep up
with global period must acquaint how to operate many kinds of technology. Now
learning and teaching using technology is common thing. It’s called E-learning (or e-Learning), the use of
electronic educational technology in learning and teaching. It is increasingly
recognized as one way to overcome the problem of education, both in the
developed countries and in developing countries for example in Indonesia. There
are three things a positive impact of the Internet according to Onno W.Purbo
(1998); learners can easily take courses anywhere in the world without borders
or boundaries of institutions, learners can easily sit on the experts in the
field of interest and lectures / study can easily be taken in various parts of
the world without relying on the university / school where the students learn.
In addition, the current library also presents a more dynamic Internet and can
be used in the entire universe. E-Learning will be used or depends on; (1). Is
the technology was already a requirement?, (2). Is adequate supporting
facilities?, (3). Is supported by adequate funding?, and (4). Is there support
from policy makers?
E-learning itself,
cannot completely replace conventional learning activities in class. However, e-Learning
can be a partner or complementary with conventional learning in the classroom.
e-Learning is an independent "basic thrust" of electronic learning
activities, but this type of learning activities still require adequate
interaction in an effort to maintain its quality.
E-learning offers
the ability to share material in all kinds of formats such as videos,
slideshows, word documents and PDFs. Conducting webinars (live online classes)
and communicating with professors via chat and message forums is also an option
available to users. It makes teaching learning process more interesting and
easier for teacher to give the feedback on students’ assignment. We could say
that the most important developments in education have happened since the
launch of the internet. There are many kinds of e-learning tools and
application such Grade Guru, Befter , EduSlide, Beenbag etc.
There’s a way to
make e-learning effective such as teacher must know the subject material well, the
design of the online course should take every learning style into
consideration, students and teachers should be able to establish an open line
of communication, when designing the site and e-learning platform the ease of
navigation and functionality should be top priority, course documents should be
available to every student enrolled, then set and communicate clear goals.
History of
e-learning
People acquainted with
the computer and internet in the late 20th century and it’s kept up with
e-learning tools and delivery methods expanded. By the early 90s several
schools had been set up that delivered courses online only, making the most of
the internet and bringing education to people who wouldn't previously have been
able to attend a college due to geographical or time constraints. By the early
90s several schools had been set up that delivered courses online only, making
the most of the internet and bringing education to people who wouldn't
previously have been able to attend a college due to geographical or time
constraints. Then in the 2000Œs,
businesses began using e-learning to train their employees. Meanwhile E-learning
in Indonesia began in mid-nineties with the advent of internet preceded by
information technology introduction to Indonesia in late 70s and early 80s.
However, those e-learning initiators hit hard by the economic and political
crises which hit Indonesia in 1997s until early 21st century.

LMS is
a learning management system is a software-based platform that provides
infrastructure, framework and tools to facilitate online learning or training. LMSs are built on various platforms, commonly
PHP, .Net or Java and they will hook up to a database such as PostgreSQL, MySQL
or SQL Server. There’s a good thing if you have LMS, it will also have a
reporting system so you can access information that would be tricky to gather
yourself. It makes your life easier and helps your business or course run
smoothly.
